Bizan Kiln Baby Pig Kutani Teacup

Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.

The cutest teacup, where to even begin. I love pigs, especially cute happy pigs, so here we are. Personally, I’m loving it for freshly squeezed orange juice first thing in the morning. The green is much more vivid in-person than it appears online but nonetheless still lovely. It definitely has a unique shape to it (dents at three points)which makes it appear smaller than it really is and is part of the reason why I don’t/can’t use it for “heftier” dishes such as yogurt, soups, etc.. Not entirely sure that its worth the $90 all in all but I do most certainly appreciate the craftsmanship and will cherish the one of a kind piece I have for many years to come.
