About kutani ware
Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.

My Yunomi Teacup
I ordered this item as a gift for my neighbor who will be collecting my mail while I travel to Japan to visit my grandchildren at Yokota AFB, Fussa. It was easy to shop online and my teacup arrived within 3 days of ordering it! I have not opened the package as the item came wrapped in Furoshiki. Beautiful presentation!! I will present it to my neighbor as a thank you gift. I know she will be delighted when she receives it. The shipping box arrived with the teacup well packed for shipping. Very pleased with this. I saw several other items online and preordered them for myself. It is much easier to shop online and ship home rather than buy it in Japan then try to safely transport it home in my suitcase where space is limited in my small suitcase. This will be my 3rd trip to Japan and I am very pleased with the products offered from Musubi Kiln!
The Great Wave tea cups are exquisite. Absolutely beautiful. They arrived in perfect condition, with packing superb. Even the box they arrived in was beautiful, and it was wrapped in the traditional Japanese cloth wrapping. The cups' arrival was truly a joy, from unwrapping the outer box to finding every layer thereafter was even more beautiful than the last. Thank you!
