Ki-Seto 黄瀬戸
黄 yellow · 瀬戸 Seto
Ki-Seto is a pale yellow glaze unique to Mino ware, produced in present-day Gifu Prefecture. It emerged during the Momoyama period (1568–1600) as one of the notable Mino ware styles alongside Setoguro, Shino, and Oribe.
Ki-Seto glaze is applied as a base coat before other glazes such as Oribe. When layered and brushed by hand, it contributes to soft gradations of color including green, amber, and blue.
