Description

This small-sized donburi bowl exudes sophistication with its elegant form, gentle off-white glaze, and delicate matte texture. It is part of the "Une" series, which blends contemporary aesthetics with the timeless tradition of Kutani ware porcelain.

A significant portion of the carefully selected clay for Kutani ware, known as Hanasaka ceramic stone, is discarded during the production process. Here, however, it is sustainably repurposed to create a silky, transparent glaze of a cream color.

The bowl is perfect for a variety of donburi dishes, such as gyudon and oyakodon, and other items like salads, cereal, and fruit.

Hanasaka is a brand of tableware that focuses on the premium clay and production area of Kutani ware. The name Hanasaka is derived from Hanasaka pottery stone, the raw material of Kutani ware.

Currently, there are only a few mines where Hanasaka pottery stone can be quarried, and while Kutani ware is widely known, such a situation is hardly known. The hard pottery stone becomes Kutani clay after crushing, refining, controlling the particle size, mixing according to the purpose, and kneading.

This item is from the Blanc series, which means "white" in French. It is created by Taniguchi Seidojo, one of the companies which are dealing premium Kutani ware clay.
