Description

This is a Guinomi Sake Cup made of hammered pure tin. This is a product that is a brushed-up version of a standard product of Seigado, the metalwork studio in Niigata prefecture.

After melting tin into a sheet form, it is hammered into shape using the hammering technique called "Tsuiki", making the piece seamless.

This product is part of a project launched by Niigata Prefecture under the theme of "Tales of a Century," products to be used for the next 100 years. It is created by an outside designer and aims to coexist with the warmth of craftsmanship and sophisticated design.

Tin was prized as a material suitable for storing water and other things because of its ability to purify what is put inside it. It is also suitable for enjoying the taste of alcohol itself since it does not retain any odor.
Delivered in a wooden box which makes it a perfect gift for your loved ones.

Guinomi

Guinomi are a type of sake cup. They are typically smaller than a Japanese teacup, and on the somewhat larger size for a sake cup. They are often used without a sake carafe, with sake poured directly from the bottle.

Originally guinomi were used to hold delicacies during Japanese tea ceremonies. At some point, people started to use them to pour and drink sake after enjoying the delicacies. This is believed to be the origin of guinomi. They therefore evolved over time alongside Japan’s tea culture.
