Bamboo Short Turquoise Guinomi Sake Cup

The plain wood with the grain of the wood left intact and the bright turquoise brass are contrasting in weight and texture, yet boldly combined to create a delicate silhouette.
This striking turquoise blue is the result of artificial green copper rusting, which has become a traditional technique.
The wooden cup is made by Yamanaka lacquerware craftsmen, a traditional handicraft of Ishikawa Prefecture, using the thinnest wood-cutting technique in Japan. Natural wood used for this product has individual differences in grain and color shading, which we hope you will enjoy as a natural texture.
The proportions are small and stable, as if a tuft of bamboo had been cut out. The soft mouthfeel created by very thin and smooth rim and pleasant weight stimulates the senses beyond the sense of taste.
It is also recommended as a small bowl for serving food or a seasonal condiment container. The design has a strong presence and will add a touch of elegance to your table coordination.

Maker / Brand
Yotsukawa Seisakusho is a manufacturer of Takaoka copperware, a craft with a history of 400 years in Toyama Prefecture in Japan.
They have been created a number of ingeniously designed, beautiful, and highly practical products using a unique technique that combines the excellence of Takaoka copperware production with Yamanaka lacquerware craftsmanship.
Kisen series is made by craftsmen who excel in the processing techniques of each material, working in a division of labor and combining them. In addition to their ease of use, the beauty of their appearance is like that of modern sculpture.
Kisen's Bamboo series was born from the idea of attaching a metal bottom to a wooden sake cup to give it a good weight and stability.

Guinomi
We have collected wonderful Guinomi sake cups from all over Japan that will make your blissful time of savoring your favorite sake even richer.
Usually the size of Guinomi is slightly smaller than teacups, so it is a larger cup for sake. It is common that people pour sake directly from the bottle into the Guinomi instead of using a Carafe. Originally, Guinomi was a tableware used to hold delicacies during Japanese tea ceremonies. After eating the delicacies, people began to pour sake into it and drink it, which is believed to be the beginning of the Ginomi. Hence, Guinomi has a history of growing up with the tea culture.
It incorporated the aesthetic sense of "Wabi-Sabi" and evolved into a tool for enjoying sake, rather than simply for drinking it.
