Kokuyu Kutani Beer Tumbler Pair
A simple and sophisticated set of Kutani beer tumblers glazed in matte black.
This beer tumbler looks simple at first glance, but there is a secret inside that makes the beer taste better. The slightly rough texture of the clay material makes the beer foam finer and creamier, giving it a restaurant-like finish.
This beer tumbler was a hit in Japan as well, popular among those who were particular about the foam of their beer.
The shape, made by potter's wheel by artisans of Kutani ware, has a natural dent and a rough texture which make easy to hold the tumbler. Only the rim is glossy glazed in black so that you can feel the smoothness when drinking.
The design is perfect for drinking beer, tea, coffee and other drinks.
Pair this tumbler with other tableware items from our Kutani ware collection for a more unified and beautiful Japanese table setting.

About kutani ware
Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.
