This Japanese Furoshiki features a design of two water birds facing each other with flowering branches in their mouths with Chinese flower.
This pattern is a replica of the treasures stored in Shosoin, the building in Nara that housed a large number of arts and crafts, mainly from the Tenpyo period (710-794).
It was designated as a National Treasure in 1997 and registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (cultural heritage) as part of the "Cultural Heritage of Ancient Nara" the following year (1998).
The large 112cm Furoshiki can be used as a tablecloth for a small table or as a tapestry. With Furoshiki handles, you can make a beautiful bag with this design. The more you use this cotton material, the softer and gentler the texture becomes.
With this unique traditional patterns, it is recommended for everyday use as well as for gift-giving.
