Nunome Oval Bento Box

This oval Bento box is just the right size for one person and is filled with traditional Yamanaka lacquerware techniques. The dividers make it easy to serve, look beautiful, and prevent the flavors from mixing with each other.

It is made with a technique of coating black and red lacquer and then polishing a part of it to show the color underneath, which gives a unique texture to the piece.

"Nunome" is a lacquering technique in which a cloth is applied to the wood, and lacquer is applied on top of the cloth to bring out the pattern. This technique is stronger and more durable than ordinary lacquering.

Its timeless traditional design is suitable for long-term use, daily use or when entertaining guests. 

Yamanaka lacquerware, also known as Yamanaka Shikki, is a lacquerware produced in the Yamanaka Onsen (hot spring) district of Kaga, Ishikawa prefecture. This lacquerware is unique in that it blends the natural elegance of the wood grain with the elegant maki-e technique of sprinkling gold, silver, or other colored powder onto a lacquer painting.
