Streamlined Chrysanthemum Yamanaka Lacquerware Deep Plate
Streamlined chrysanthemums is the motif used in this beautifully crafted deep plate. 25 petals with smooth edges are neatly alined to create a harmonious completeness in one deep plate.
The multiple layers of lacquer give the bowls a subtle yet deep shine, and the smooth surface elegantly reflects light. Contrasting colors used for the edges of the petals bestow a sense of movement and depth to this item.
This deep plate can be used to plate confectionaries. You can display fruit in this bowl to decorate a dining table. Quite versatile in use as it is adequately sized to hold multiple servings. The bowl is very light and can be easily held with one hand.

Yamanaka lacquerware is produced in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and has a history of about 400 years.
The traditional techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware were highly evaluated and became known throughout Japan, despite a period of temporary interruption.
It is characterized by the use of wood grain patterns to express a natural texture, and is made with great attention to detail.
It was designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1975.
