Description

This Japanese furoshiki wrapping cloth features a playful work by the cat-loving ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi, making it a perfect gift for cat enthusiasts.

The design is based on one of Kuniyoshi’s popular prints, Myokai Kogoju Sanbiki (“Cats Suggested as the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido”), a witty and imaginative piece in which cats stand in for the famous stations along the historic route. Created in the late Edo period (1603–1868 CE), this artwork reflects Kuniyoshi’s humor and deep affection for felines.

It features the names of fifty-five places, including the fifty-three stations on the Tokaido, plus Nihonbashi and Kyoto, along with various cats. All of the cats are charming and have unique expressions and poses.

It is a perfect wrapping cloth to send to someone who loves cats and would be great decoration as bringing Japanese art in your room.
