Set for Summer: Musubi Mono Japanese Dinnerware Sets
Written by Team MUSUBI
Introducing the summer-themed dinnerware sets from Musubi Mono.
Like the sets we introduced in spring , the new seasonal Musubi Mono Japanese Dinnerware Sets, featuring themes of blue, porcelain and celadon, are also expertly crafted by Japanese artisans. Each piece is thoughtfully chosen by the MUSUBI KILN staff, guided by the expertise of our table designer. These exclusive sets are designed just for you, embodying the elegance of Japanese dining culture.
The Musubi Mono dinnerware set represents the traditional Japanese ichiju-sansai culinary style, meaning "one soup, three dishes." This style emphasizes seasonal ingredients and nutritional balance, beautifully merging aesthetics with cultural significance.
Discover the intricate details and stories behind the creation of both dinnerware sets.
The Musubi Mono Blue Breeze Dinnerware Set features a harmonious blend of sometsuke "blue and white" porcelain and celadon, complemented by a wooden tray and miso soup bowl. This combination evokes a refreshing, natural, and comforting ambiance. Like a pale blue breeze that rustles through the leaves and gently skims over a pond, this set delivers the delicate beauty of nature to your table, leaving a lasting impression of tranquility.
The main plate and bowl are both made by SINGAMA, crafted with high-quality Seto porcelain clay and meticulously adorned with hand-painted sometsuke.
The main plate features an oval leaf shape with smooth lines, and the protruding ends mimic the detailed, realistic design of a leaf. The pattern on the small bowl is the traditional Japanese hemp leaf pattern. The straight and vigorous growth of hemp symbolizes the wish for children's healthy growth. Additionally, this pattern is believed to have protective qualities against evil spirits.
The rice bowl and the smaller side plate are made of celadon from Kosen Kiln. The smooth, translucent pale blue glaze resembles a serene lake, with delicately drawn black and red fish adding vitality and movement. This lively fish motif creates a contrast with the leaf-patterned plates, blending tranquility and dynamism beautifully.
The black miso soup bowl, made of Yamanaka lacquerware, is lightweight, while the Echizen lacquerware tray highlights the natural grain of the wood. Meticulous craftsmanship adds a lustrous, glossy coating to the miso soup bowl, and a comfortable, smooth finish to the tray.
Musubi Mono Graceful Garden Dinnerware Set
The Musubi Mono Graceful Garden Dinnerware Set features an eye-catching turquoise with deep brown hues. The designs include Kyoto's Shogoin radish and raspberry branches, capturing the beauty of summer while evoking the peaceful, nostalgic feeling of being in a garden filled with various fruits and vegetables.
The Mikawachi ware main plate from Kakusho Kiln features an expansive white surface that subtly accents the presentation of dishes. Its size makes it ideal for individual place settings in a traditional Japanese meal. The larger side plate, from Tosen Kiln, showcases the serene sometsuke of Kiyomizu ware while highlighting the unique shape of the Shogoin radish. It is perfectly sized for side dishes such as pickled vegetables.
The Mino ware rice bowl from Hibino is crafted from stoneware, enhancing its earthy, grounded appeal. Its captivating color, matte finish inside and subtle shimmer coating outside make it visually striking, while the texture provides a satisfying tactile experience. The light blue kobachi bowl, also from Hibino, is perfect for serving vibrant, colorful side dishes.
The Yamanaka lacquerware miso soup bowl prominently showcases beautiful wood grains, while the round Echizen lacquerware tray elegantly complements the entire arrangement, creating a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing presentation.
