JPY ¥60,000

Only 2 pieces in stock!

This is a premium handmade Kutani Japanese tea cup set of five, featuring the delicate hanazume style, which means "filled with flowers." Hanazume is one of the most notable techniques of Kutani ware, a traditional decorative method that has been passed down since the Taisho period (1912–26).

Colorful flowers adorn the entire surface of the teacups and their lids, complemented by gold trimmings, lending a timeless elegance and sophistication. As each piece is individually crafted, slight variations in the finish may be present, highlighting their unique charm.

The teacups are accompanied with lids, making them very easy to use when welcoming guests with hot tea. The rim of the teacup is decorated with gold, lending them a refined and luxurious look. To create a more formal presentation, match them with teacup coasters.

This set is perfect for enjoying Japanese tea with family and guests for special occasions. Beautifully boxed in a paulownia wood box, this set will be an extraordinary gift for those who love Japanese traditional culture and Japanese tea. This tea set, crafted by skilled Japanese artisans using traditional Kutani ware techniques, boasts a timeless design that ensures its long-lasting appeal.

FEATURES

HANAZUME STYLE

Hanazume is a traditional technique of Kutani ware. This style was introduced in 1913 by Shiro Mizuta, a skillful craftsperson in Kanazawa. A floral decoration covers the entire surface of the item, and is meticulously outlined with gold paint. This style epitomizes the stunning beauty of Kutani ware.

About kutani ware

Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.
