Hagama Banko Donabe Rice Cooker 3 Rice Cooker Cups (3 Gou) with Rice Scoop and Pot Mat

JPY ¥52,300

This Hagama donabe rice cooker is highly heat resistant, durable, and has excellent heat and moisture retention properties. Cooking rice in an earthenware pot releases just the right amount of moisture, and the residual heat cooks the rice to its core, making the rice grains nice and fluffy. It can be used with either open flame or electric cooktop.

Also, the temperature rises slowly, so the flavor of the rice is enhanced. The bottom of the earthenware pot is slightly rounded to ensure even heat distribution. The heat from the flame spreads over the entire surface of the pot.

The "Hagama" shape was originally designed to be convenient for cooking rice in a kamado(cooking furnace) in old times. The distinctive design has a nostalgic feel and enhances the atmosphere of Japanese cuisine.

Rice scoop and pot mat are also included with the rice cooker.

The size is suitable to cook up to 3 rice cooker cups (3 Gou*), which is equivalent to 450g. *A Gou is a rice cooker cup, and one Gou is equivalent to 150g.
The amount of water used will be 1.1 to 1.2 times the amount of rice.

Banko Ware has excellent heat resistance, durability, and heat retention properties. It is also resistant to heat, making it difficult for food to cool down. The far-infrared ray effect locks in the umami of the food.

Best rice I have ever cooked

This Hagama Banko Donabe is not only a very beautiful object, but it takes the simple act of cooking rice to a superior level: result is a fluffy, shiny rice which smells and tastes wonderfully. I thought it was just me, but my 3 year old son never wanted to eat more than a spoon of the rice from my electric rice cooker (even though it was fine tbh) but from this donabe? He eats everything in his bowl. Even my daughter and husband enjoy eating plain rice now, which they never did before. The price tag is high so this may not be for everyone, but cooking rice is now a peaceful ritual for me. It is a simple dish, but one which is no longer rushed to get the best aroma possible every time it is cooked. I would never go back to my old habits regarding rice preparation. Package from Musubi Kiln was careful and protective and their customer service is very kind. Thank you!
