To produce Kutani ware that is suitable for modern life and loved by people in Japan and abroad: that is the theme of Bitouen, a creator with a history of 100 years. It is their belief that Kutani patterns, with their depth and grandeur reminiscent of the Sea of Japan in winter, have both modernity and internationality.
They offer warm and easy-to-use tableware for everyday use, modeled on the masterpieces that have colored Kutani's history, including ko-Kutani, Yoshidaya, ko-sometsuke (blue and white porcelain), and Rosanjin.
Crafts
Kutani ware is a pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture, with a history spanning over 350 years. It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of navy blue, red, purple, green, and yellow that are applied to the bold and daring lines. Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.

Donburi Bowls
Donburi bowls, a quintessential piece of Japanese tableware, are larger, thicker, and deeper than standard rice bowls, making them ideal for serving popular donburi dishes like tendon, oyakodon, and katsudon. Whether it's a rice dish or a soupy creation, these bowls elevate the dining experience.
Their versatility extends to noodle dishes like soba, udon, and ramen. The durability and heat retention of these bowls help keep meals warm while enhancing their flavors.

Akae
Akae, or red painting, is an overglaze decoration that primarily uses red, complemented by colors such as green, purple and blue. In China, this style originated during the Song Dynasty (960 CE–1279 CE), while in Japan, it was introduced by Sakaida Kakiemon during the Shoho era (1644 CE–1648 CE) and later found its place in Kutani ware.
In Kutani porcelain, akae-saibyo is particularly famous. Akae-saibyo literally means "fine painting in red." Using an extremely fine brush, each line is drawn on the surface of the vessel with exquisite detail, creating breathtakingly intricate patterns.
