Maker / Brand
At the foot of Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Tanaka Toubou is the kiln of artisans Tanaka Nobuo and Tanaka Michiko. In operation for 35 years, they specialize in creating unique tea ceremony utensils and daily-use tableware.
Nobuo principally creates glazed ware with a black tenmoku glaze that includes at least five percent iron. Meanwhile, Michiko's work captures the essence of each season along with gentle depictions of plants and animals, creating an emotional connection to those who admire them.
