Kanazawa, the birthplace of Kutani ware, is known for its unique and rare traditional craft called Kaga Mizuhiki.
Made by Kokuzou Kiln, known for the gentle and warm stoneware with beautiful colors and elegant design, which tries to create everyday's tableware into something more special.
The shape is handcrafted by potter's wheel so you can feel the natural charm of the stoneware.
Mizuhiki are decorative strings attached to gifts and envelopes. Depending on the way it is tied and its color, there are different meanings implied and different occasions when it should be used. In recent years, mizuhiki has also gained recognition for its high design quality and is used as a Japanese-style decorative item for hair ornaments and other small items.
Note: You may find small pink spots known as gohonde on the surface of this item. The iron in the material creates natural spots after being fired in the kiln. The appearance of gohonde actually expresses that the item has been fired properly, and its precious beauty is highly regarded amongst craftspeople.
