Description

When ironing, it is recommended to iron from the reverse side to avoid damaging the texture. This place mat is made of Tosa Washi Paper and has a pattern called "Kagome". Kagome refers to the net of a basket woven of bamboo or rattan, or its continuous latticework of braids. There are various types of braids with different patterns depending on the intended use. It is said that the continuous pattern imitating this basket mesh has the effect of repelling evil spirits.

This place mat is perfect for an individual serving. In addition to being used as a regular place mat, they are also great to place under items displayed on a shelf.

This Washi paper has a double structure, and the Washi paper with a white pattern on it is made by a technique called "Rakusui". Rakusui is a traditional technique to make a pattern on washi paper by dropping water. The technique of making a double-layered paper by applying another sheet of washi on the back of the Rakusui paper is called "Sukiawase".
