The lids of Tokoname teapot are known for their tight fit and airtightness, which allows the tea to slowly draw out its flavor.

Tokoname ware has the largest share of teapot production in Japan. Tokoname ware is located in the southwest of Aichi Prefecture and is one of the six major ceramic production areas in Japan, known as the “Rokkoyo (Six Old Kilns)". The smooth and beautiful earthenware fired at high temperatures has supported the life and tea culture of Japan.

It has a "Sawayaka" strainer, a stainless steel fine mesh strainer inside. The appropriate mesh size allows for smooth brewing of even the finest tea leaves. The end of the mesh bent inward to prevent hands and sponges from being damaged during cleaning.

With its size and the fine mesh strainer, this teapot is suitable for any tea types. Fukamushicha(deeply steamed tea), Hojicha(roasted tea), and Genmaicha(brown rice tea) are especially recommended.
