White Peonies Kakejiku Hanging Scroll
This work was created by Suzuki Yuri, an artist who specializes in flower-and-bird paintings. Some of the large white peonies are tinged with a soft pink, creating a vivid contrast with the fresh green leaves.
Peonies typically bloom from April to May, making them an ideal choice for spring display. Long regarded as the "Queen of Flowers," peonies symbolize prosperity and good fortune, and are often showcased to welcome the season’s abundance.
It is carefully preserved, rolled around a scroll rod and housed in a beautiful paulownia wood box.
Suzuki Yuri was born in 1958 in Gifu Prefecture. She specializes in flower-and-bird paintings, classical designs, figurative art, and animal paintings, and is known for her delicate and refined style, continuing to create art with great passion amid the rich natural beauty of Gifu. As a member of the Bokusai-kai (Ink and Color Painting Association), she has received numerous awards, including being selected for the 5th Maeda Seison Memorial Grand Prize.
