Musubi Mono Emerald Orchard Dinnerware Set
The Musubi Mono Emerald Orchard Dinnerware Set brings fall's warmth to your table, beautifully combining the vibrant colors of Kutani ware with the diverse styles of Hasami ware. Paired with lacquerware that features woodgrain textures and a smooth finish, this set reflects the serene beauty of the season. The primary hue of the set is the different shades of green, adorned with delicate illustrations of purple wild grapes, a charming little bird, and a bright clematis flower. This creates an immersive experience as if you're dining in an emerald orchard, blending the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship with the beauty of nature.
The main plate and the smaller side plate are both crafted from Kutani ware, showcasing the bold yet refined use of color that is a hallmark of this traditional Japanese ceramic art.
The main plate is illustrated by Yamada Yoshiaki, a leading figure in the modern interpretation of the classic Kutani style. Drawing from his keen observation of nature and using his own fresh, unique color palette, he depicts a delicate scene of a small bird perched on a grapevine. His masterful use of negative space not only provides a beautiful backdrop for presenting food but also creates a charming interaction between the bird and its surroundings. As an original item in this set, it adds a unique touch and distinctive character to the collection.
The smaller side plate is crafted in the vibrant Yoshidaya style, a renowned tradition within Kutani ware. Unlike the usual porcelain used in Kutani ware, this plate is made from stoneware, giving it distinct character. The sides and back of the plates maintain the natural texture of unglazed clay, lending an earthy touch to the plate.
The green rice bowl and the side bowl are made from Hasami ware, known for its diverse range of shapes and sizes as well as its rich variety of designs. These pieces beautifully highlight the versatility and timeless appeal of Hasami craftsmanship.
This vibrant green rice bowl is adorned with hand-painted purple grapes, radiating the unique warmth of a handcrafted piece. The coarse clay is coated with a glossy, bright glaze, enhancing its visual appeal. The small side bowl is decorated with a hand-painted sometsuke design featuring the traditional tokusa “horsetail” pattern. In Japan, the upright growth of tokusa symbolizes hopes for growth and prosperity. The elegant blue and white color scheme adds a sense of balance and airiness to the overall set.
The wooden miso soup bowl and tray retain the natural grain of the wood. The brown miso soup bowl, made from Yamanaka lacquerware, is an original item in this set. It gently transfers the warmth of the miso soup to your hands while being remarkably lightweight. Its surface has a smooth, lustrous sheen, adding to the bowl's refined aesthetic. The Echizen lacquerware tray features a refined combination of deep reddish-brown on the front and black on the back, enhancing the overall aesthetic with a touch of elegant Japanese sophistication.
Musubi Mono Auburn Maple Dinnerware Set
The Musubi Mono Auburn Maple Dinnerware Set beautifully combines the elegant design of Arita ware with the traditional Japanese charm of lacquerware. The set’s overall color palette embraces a warm red, perfectly evoking the ambiance of autumn. It features tableware adorned with maple leaf patterns and shapes, paired with plates etched with gentle water motifs. The set artfully portrays the image of maple leaves gracefully drifting onto the water’s surface, inviting you to immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of the fall season.
The main plate and the two side bowls are crafted from Arita ware, Japan's premier porcelain. With a history spanning 400 years, Arita ware is celebrated for its ethereal, translucent white porcelain adorned with vibrant paintings.
The main plate features intricate wave patterns coated with a smooth glaze that emits a soft, gentle sheen. Its surface also offers a subtle textured feel under your fingertips. In Japanese culture, the wave motif symbolizes a wish for enduring peace and tranquility in life. As an exclusive item in this set, it is only available as part of this specific dinnerware set.
The octagon side bowl is decorated in the Kakiemon style, known for its use of warm hues and its distinctive asymmetrical compositions that leave ample milky-white space. Delicate brushwork depicts elegant motifs of pine trees, plum blossoms, and maple leaves, evoking a sense of refined beauty.
The small side plate is shaped like two overlapping maple leaves, with one leaf accented in gold. This piece stands out as one of the focal points of the set.
The miso soup bowl, rice bowl, and tray are all crafted from Yamanaka lacquerware. The rice bowl, made from premium mizume-zakura “cherry birch” wood, features delicate, petal-like carved patterns both inside and out, giving it a rustic yet refined elegance.
The vibrant vermillion miso soup bowl is a unique piece, specially created for this dinnerware set through the collaboration of Yamanaka lacquerware maki-e artisans and MUSUBI KILN designers. It catches the eye with its captivating glossy finish. The lid is adorned with gold and silver designs of maple leaves and flowing water, evoking a sense of the season while symbolizing a wish for good fortune and harmony.
The rectangular, dual-sided Yamanaka lacquerware tray in red and black, is also an original item in this set. It gracefully enhances the overall ensemble, adding a touch of visual elegance to the presentation.
