Key points of this table setting

1. Functional Buffet Table Setting with Japanese Accents

For a buffet, the layout is crucial. Beyond being visually appealing, tableware items, the food and beverages need to be neatly set on the table, yet leaving enough space for people to socialize. Ideas for easier dining are abundant and spread out throughout our table.

We started by placing the individual Kutani serving plates in the front and the back of the table accompanied with our popular Kutani ware designed chopsticks. The slight angle adds subtle lines to the table and makes it easy for everyone to hold the chopsticks.
The stunning bouquet of peonies and hydrangeas with seasonal Japanese Enkianthus branches give grandeur to the setting and also highlights the Kutani ware sake cups on the lacquerware tray.

The main dishes are all set on long rectangular tableware items in different materials and colors. The scrumptious Unagi sushi pieces are laid on the Kumiko Long Tray. The meatballs on shiitake mushrooms are skewered with delightful food picks set on a Mino ware gold long plate.
Fruit cups are given a new look when set in Kutani ware small boxes adorned with edible gold leaves. A delicious portion of fruit can be easily enjoyed with this plating style.

Place bowls with color and intricate designs to add festive flairs to the table like this Arita Porcelain bowl used to serve sashimi.

2. Kutani Ware with a Celebratory Feel

Incorporating Kutani ware into your buffet tabletop not only lends an air of sophistication and authenticity but also brings a celebratory feel to your office party. Kutani ware, renowned for its vibrant, five-colored designs, will make your table pop with color and vitality.

The Seven Lucky Gods Kutani Ochoko Sake Cup Set will elevate the drinking experience for your colleagues. With each sake cup designed with one of the Seven Lucky Gods, these cups are sure to become wonderful conversation-starting pieces.

Adding unique drinkware to your buffet setting can elevate the experience for all attendees. Delicately designed sake cups decorated with auspicious motifs will bring cheer and merriment into the room. Not only does it make a statement, but it also complements the dishes in an eye-catching manner.

3. An Extra Layer of Elegance and Authenticity

A great way of adding a touch of cultural elegance into your buffet table is by incorporating unique Japanese decorative items. For example, a striking Kutani ware "Kozuchi," a mythical lucky mallet, will bring luck and prosperity as well as spark interesting conversations. The two faces drawn on the mallet are Ebisu and Diakokuten. Ebisu (on the left side) is the god of commerce and Daikokuten (on the right side) is the god of property.

Guests may take it upon themselves to explore the impressive Japanese craftsmanship while admiring this beautiful piece. Showcase it somewhere prominent like the center of the table or near where you are serving sake for all guests to enjoy its beauty and grace.

For those who wish to bring a unique flair to their office buffet party, using traditional Japanese tableware can be a great way to set the scene. Offer your colleagues a memorable experience which melds dining with artistry, heritage and symbolism. With pieces such as Kutani ware, Mino ware and decorative items like the Kozuchi, the harmonious merging of these elements creates an inviting atmosphere that will linger in memory long after the celebration concludes.
