Points of This Table Setting

1. Table for Four

We  prepared the table with a basic and cheerful setting for four.
The main clay pot items are neatly aligned on the table runner and the individual settings are all set in a symmetrical manner to give the table an organized look.

The clay pot is in a shiny dark brown and other clay pot accessory items are also in natural colors to match the pot.
The Shokado Bento Box and Gyro Mino Ware Round Plates from Hibino are great items to have as they can be used to beautifully plate raw ingredients with a fine-dining appearance.

2.  Discovering New Flavors

The fun part about a clay pot meal is that you can choose what you want to eat. You can enjoy meat with a bunch of veggies in a delicious soup with an array of sauces.
Kids usually aren't big veggie fans, and even for adults meat takes preference over vegetables at times.  But when you eat cooked vegetables in a clay pot with meat or fish, the vegetables are tastier and easy to eat. The "umani" from the meat and fish, and the vegetables themselves give much more flavor to the ingredients.
In Japan you often hear about kids who don't like vegetables eating them if it's in a clay pot meal or that they discovered that vegetables are actually nice to eat after eating them in a clay pot.
Try a clay pot dinner to experience new flavors and textures.

3.  Fun with Plates

We chose the accompanying plates and bowls for this meal in a fun fish and cat motif.
We plated some fried sweet potatoes and a daikon salad on the Harekutani Fish Plates and set the Neco Hasami Cat Bowls for the individual bowls for eating the clay pot ingredients. The playful patterns and design light up the table and add enjoyment to the setting.

Take a closer look, and see the cats attentively carrying out their role as chopstick rests.

A clay pot meal is all about gathering and sharing a warm meal together and that includes children as well. Have them experience something totally new and delicious with the authentic Ginpo Kikka Banko Donabe Japanese Clay Pot.
