Taking a peek at cups used by Musubi Kiln's office staff!

Most of the products we carry at MUSUBI KILN are available in our office. We use them for photo shoots, for actual meals, and sometimes each of us takes them home to try them out. Tableware is still something you can't understand until you actually use it. Even if the materials and shapes look the same at first glance, they are completely different when you hold them in your hands.

Among the tableware that lines the cupboards in the office, mugs and teacups are especially popular. When staff members arrive at work in the morning, they start their day by choosing their favorite cup and making coffee or tea. Some choose the same cup almost every day, while others choose a different one depending on their beverage or mood of the day.

In this issue, we asked the MUSUBI KILN staff about their favorite cups!

Moto’s pick
→Choemon Skateboarding Kutani Yunomi Japanese Teacup

“For me, the most important point is that it is comfortable to use. The smooth surface texture and gentle curves make it fit perfectly in the hand.”“It's exciting to look at, and I love the mix of historical and traditional patterns with a modern sense of humor. The subtle pattern on the inside is also elegant and shows great attention to detail!”

“It is durable, so it is ideal for everyday use, and the variation of patterns makes it a great conversation piece when used with guests. It is a teacup that can be used in a variety of situations, and I would like to use it for a long time.”

Now let's hear some of the buyers' favorites.

Haruka’s pick
→Kokuzou Kiln Sakura Kutani Mug Turkish blue

“When I arrive at the office, the first thing I do is boil water and make coffee. While the water is boiling, I have a little fun in the morning choosing a mug to accompany me today. On cold mornings, I often choose a ceramic mug with a warm texture.”

“This mug is gorgeous with its bold cherry blossom painting, and just holding it makes my heart skip a beat. I especially like the petals painted on the handle, which is just where my thumb rests when I hold the cup. The bright turquoise blue world with dancing cherry blossoms will make my heart relax and unwind.”

Next, we also interviewed two writers!

Mina’s pick
→Higashi Kiln P.S. Blue Tobe Mug

Mina “My favorite mug is definitely the Higashi Kiln P.S. Blue Tobe Mug. I love the big flowers in the water-color blue with a tad bit of gold sprinkle in the middle. When I place it on my desk with the handle on the right, I can see a big blue flower right in front of me. I often find myself staring back at this mug to find comfort on a busy work day.”

Emi’s pick
→Black Cat Kutani Mug

Emi “My favorite mug is the Black Cat Kutani Mug. When I went to the office for the first day, I had my eyes met with this black cat. What I like about this mug is the smooth and pleasant touch when I hold it in my hand. Also, I found myself relaxing when I held its curved handle that looks just like the black cat's tail. It is lightweight and easy to wash. The cat is always there to wish me luck!!”

Finally, we asked the person in charge of SNS.

Sayaka’s pick
→Usuki Mug Cup

Sayaka “I often wear patterned or bright primary-colored clothes, so the matte-textured monotone mug goes well with my daily outfits. I like the design very much because it is to my liking. I want to use a mug with my favorite design that I can totally coordinate with my clothes and mug while I am at work. That's why I love to use this mug.”

Each person washes the used cups, concluding the day's work. After drying, the cups go back to the shelf and become someone else's work companion again.

We will continue to introduce cups that we can wholeheartedly recommend because we have used them many times.
