Kacho 花鳥

花 flower · 鳥 bird

Kacho (birds and flowers) is a decorative genre depicting flowers and birds together, derived from kacho-ga (bird-and-flower painting). It celebrates the beauty of nature and the seasons and is a common subject in ceramics, textiles, and lacquer.

Kacho patterns are drawn with gosu (cobalt blue pigment) in the sometsuke style. These motifs depict natural subjects such as small birds and floral elements.
