Ohigashi Alyne is an award-winning ceramics painter. Born in the Philippines, she came to Japan after meeting her husband, who had been visiting the Philippines to teach pottery techniques at a college. That brought her to the family business, Higashi Kiln, located in Isobe-cho, Ehime Prefecture. Set atop a small hill in the peaceful mountains of the Seto Inland Sea, Alyne paints beautiful designs inspired by nature surrounding her. She expresses her thoughts and feelings in her work using her own unique techniques. With the beautiful designs she paints, her works enrich people's lives, embodying her wishes that those who use her tableware will be happier and have more togetherness than ever before.
