Estimated Shipping Widget will be displayed here!
This is a cute ceramic Japanese matcha bowl chawan from the popular "Cats in Sunny Spot" series by Atelier Yu. It features a drawing of two cats snuggled up together.
The contrast between the soft and relaxing drawings of the cats and the texture of the traditional stoneware colored in blown and white creates a charming and authentic atmosphere. The shape is crafted by potter's wheel, and you can feel the warmth and comfort to hold it in your hand.
The rich thickness of the stoneware bowl helps keep the freshly prepared matcha green tea warm, making it ideal for tea ceremonies during the cold season.
You may also find matching teapots, mugs, and rice bowls in our store.

Maker / Brand
Nestled at the foot of the sacred Hakusan mountain, Atelier Yu’s workshop is a serene space where inspiration flows from its surrounding natural beauty. Seasonal blooms visible through the windows—cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas and sunflowers in summer, and bush clovers in autumn—often find their way into the artisans' designs, reflecting the charm of wildflowers alongside delightful animal motifs.
Skilled female artisans infuse each piece with gentle, soft colors, embracing the five traditional colors of Kutani ware, known as Kutani Gosai. They imbue each creation with warmth, crafting pottery that brings joy to everyday dining and a smile to all who use it.

Crafts
Kutani ware is a pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture, with a history spanning over 350 years. It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of navy blue, red, purple, green, and yellow that are applied to the bold and daring lines. Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
