Maker / Brand
Kikusho Pottery produces casual and cute tableware for daily use. Located in Kawatana-cho, Nagasaki, the company was established in 1997.
Kikusho Pottery had previously been running a ceramics manufacturer, but went independent to focus on their own creations. Since then it has produced a wide variety of ceramics, such as those for the tea ceremony as well as casual meals. While inheriting the unique techniques cultivated over the years, they continue to create products that match the times by incorporating innovative ideas and placing emphasis on high-quality products.
Crafts
Hasami ware is a traditional Japanese ceramic produced in Hasami Town, often called the "Town of Pottery," located in Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu. For over 400 years, it has been cherished as durable and practical tableware for everyday use.
It is known for its vibrant designs painted on a pure white porcelain base—an iconic feature of Japanese porcelain. While Hasami ware continues to honor traditional patterns, artisans are constantly creating new designs that suit contemporary lifestyles, blending timeless beauty with modern functionality.
How to Care
Choose options
Rice Bowls
Rice bowls are indispensable tableware for the Japanese dining table. Since they are used so often for Japanese food, many people are particular about them. It is important to choose one that is not only beautiful to look at, but is also the right size for your hand and easy to hold.
We recommend that you get a dedicated rice bowl for each member of your family. It's also a good idea to have a few available for different occasions, in varying colors and patterns that match the season and table setting.
Cat
Cats are cherished around the world for the comfort they bring, whether they are basking in the sun or soothing us with their unexpected gestures. Also a familiar presence in the world of Japanese craft, cats have long been celebrated through the dedicated handwork of artisans.
Our cat-themed tableware and decor collection features plates, mugs, and lucky cat figurines. The tableware pieces add playfulness to the dining table, while traditional maneki neko bring a sense of auspicious warmth to your living space.
