Yukiwa Short Table Runner

This yukiwa short table runner is an exquisite piece of Japanese craftsmanship that beautifully decorates a table. This size is ideal for placing under a centerpiece on a dining table or on a display cabinet.

The yukiwa pattern resembles a snowflake. The large yukiwa pattern is used to outline various floral designs such as chrysanthemums, camellias and plum blossoms. The flowers are intricately woven into the brocade with the golden thread giving a three-dimensional look to the whole table runner. 

And what makes these table runners especially unique are the tassels at each end. The thread used for the tassels is dyed to match the pattern of the table runners and then braided by hand. Matching the radiant and exquisite beauty of the runner, the tassels add an extra touch of elegance to the table.

The fabric is double-lined and can be used on both sides. It is sturdy and durable and also water-resistant which makes it easy to care for. In case of any kind of soiling or staining, lightly tap the fabric with a moistened towel to remove the dirt.  

This piece features intricate detailing with gold thread. Due to the nature of gold thread, polyester is included in its composition, while all colored threads remain pure silk, ensuring a refined finish. 

Handle the table runner with care to avoid the threads from snagging. When removing the table runner from the box, the runner may have some folding creases. Place a thin cloth over the table runner to iron out any creases. 

Kikyoya

Located in Kyoto, the home to many traditional crafts of Japan, Kikyoya has innovatively combined the technique of Yuzen dyeing and sewing skills used for kimono fabric with the intricate weaving skills of obis to create original products such as table runners, coasters and many other beautifully crafted items. 

Nishijin Ori is a brocade that is a yarn-dyed textile produced in “Nishijin,” which is a common name given to the northwest area of Kyoto. It has a long history, dating back to the Heian period (794 CE - 1185 CE), and is characterized by the use of beautifully dyed threads and patterns woven using a variety of techniques.

Because it is produced in small quantities in a wide variety, Nishijin Ori is highly scarce and valuable. This fabric can be cherished for an extended period of time, often being passed down from one generation to the next.

In 1976, it was designated as a Japanese traditional craft, and today, this luxurious three-dimensional woven art is widely known around the world as a representative silk textile of Japan.
