This beautiful, bright turquoise sake cup is crafted by Kokuzou Kiln, renowned for its gentle, warm stoneware, vivid colors, and elegant designs. The kiln strives to transform everyday tableware into pieces that feel truly special.

This series was developed over the course of a full year, born from the desire to create Kokuzou Kiln’s original turquoise tableware. Through continuous experimentation and countless failures, the artisans finally achieved this vibrant color and refined matte texture.

The footed sake cup exudes an elegant presence and is ideal not only for enjoying sake but also for serving small portions of soup or desserts. 

Kokuzou Kiln

Kokuzou Kiln offers the unique texture and warmth of pottery, the charm of hand painted designs, and shapes that are comfortable to use. It is one of the few kilns in the Kutani ware industry with an integrated production system, where all processes, from forming the clay to painting and firing, are done in house.

Kokuzou Kiln is located at the foot of Mt. Kokuzou in Ishikawa Prefecture. Its name comes from a bodhisattva renowned for boundless wisdom and virtue. The kiln strives to create pottery that is both elegant and beautiful.

Kutani Ware

Kutani ware is a pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture, with a history spanning over 350 years. It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of navy blue, red, purple, green, and yellow that are applied to the bold and daring lines. Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
