Description

Put a smile on your face with this unique small Yunomi teacup from Kousai Kiln. This charmingly designed teacup is handmade, combining the Shigaraki style "Yakishime(high-fired unglazed ceramics)" and traditional "Some-nishiki," a technique where a product is first glazed with white and blue patterns and then is further decorated with detailed hand-painted drawings.

Enjoy the different traditional Japanese patterns also painted on the backside; the hemp leaf pattern in red, the Seigaiha ocean wave pattern in Indigo blue, the Shippou interlocking circular patterns in green, and the Jimon(designs used for kimono fabric) pattern in blue.

The rustic stoneware makes this teacup perfect for Japanese green tea, Sencha and brown roasted tea, Hojicha. Children will also enjoy drinking out of this teacup as well with the adorable rabbit face in the front.

Match this teacup with the plate and rice bowl with same "Playful Rabbit" motif to make a complete set.

Yunomi Japanese Teacups

Yunomi are a kind of vertical, cylindrical teacup. They are typically used for casual tea times. Because of the large capacity of a yunomi, the area where the tea touches the air is small, so the tea does not get cold easily. They are also suitable for when you want to drink a lot of bancha or hojicha. In sushi restaurants, tea is traditionally served in a yunomi.
