Miyabitake Round Japanese Bamboo Plate
This is a bamboo plate made by Miyabitake. The plates are reversible in red and black, and can be used according to the table setting.
It can be used in a variety of ways, such as placing Japanese sweets or snacks on it, or stacking it on a plate.
After use, wipe with a soft cloth or wash in lukewarm water and dry in the shade in a well-ventilated place.
Miyabitake is a brand of bamboo products handmade in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. Oita Prefecture is the largest producer of Japanese timber bamboo.
Beppu bamboo crafts originated in the Muromachi period (1336-1573) when baskets for peddlers were made and sold. During the Edo period (1603-1868), as the name of Beppu Hot Springs spread, kitchen utensils were made for use by the guests of the hot springs during their stay. As these items were brought back home as souvenirs, many bamboo crafts were produced and became a local industry in the Beppu area.
