This Pink Crystalline Glaze Rice Bowl captures the organic beauty of crystalline glaze, with each piece featuring naturally occurring variations in its delicate patterns. The gentle pink gradient, applied through a spraying technique, softly blends into the translucent surface, creating a warm, delicate impression reminiscent of blooming petals and the glow of dawn.
Careful temperature adjustments are made during the glazing process, and Touan uses multiple kilns dedicated to crystalline glaze, ensuring each piece develops its own distinct expression while staying true to the series' aesthetic.
The soft transition from white to pink contrasts beautifully with steamed rice, highlighting its natural color and texture. Designed for both everyday use and refined presentation, this bowl is microwave and dishwasher safe.

Maker / Brand
Founded in 1922, Touan is one of Kyoto's distinguished kilns specializing in Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware. As one of the largest workshops in Kyoto, all stages of production are meticulously carried out by hand. Touan is dedicated to crafting exquisite, seasonally inspired designs, employing underglaze painting, where intricate colors are applied before glazing. This process ensures that each creation retains its delicate hues and is resistant to wear, embodying both beauty and durability.
Origin
Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware, collectively known as Kyo-yaki or Kiyomizu-yaki, are esteemed crafts from Kyoto. Unlike other pottery styles, they integrate various techniques from across Japan, resulting in unique, handmade pieces. Each item is crafted meticulously, from shaping on the pottery wheel to intricate painting, showcasing exceptional modeling skills and delicate designs.
With a rich history intertwined with traditional Japanese culture, Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware are celebrated for their refined artistry and elegance. Known for their vibrant and detailed paintings, they were officially recognized as a traditional craft by the Japanese government in 1977. Today, these ceramics are prized for their high artistic quality, embodying both historical craftsmanship and aesthetic sophistication.

Rice Bowls
Rice bowls are indispensable tableware for the Japanese dining table. Since they are used so often for Japanese food, many people are particular about them. It is important to choose one that is not only beautiful to look at, but is also the right size for your hand and easy to hold.
We recommend that you get a dedicated rice bowl for each member of your family. It's also a good idea to have a few available for different occasions, in varying colors and patterns that match the season and table setting.

Pink
Pink is frequently linked with emotions such as love, care, maturity, and romance. Pink tableware uniquely captures these feelings, evoking a sense of warmth and sweetness that reflects the essence of blossoms and the emotions they inspire.
In Japan, pink is a color deeply connected to the beauty of spring. Known as sakura iro "cherry blossom color," it embodies the hue of spring sunlight shining on blooming cherry trees. Another notable shade is momo zome, the vibrant pink of peach blossoms, which is more vivid than sakura iro. Additionally, there's nadeshiko iro, a pink with a slight lean towards purple, named after a plant featured in the classic Japanese anthology, the Manyoshu.
