A tebo is a deep wire strainer used for boiling noodles such as ramen and udon and draining them quickly. This series of tebo ramen strainers features professional-grade stainless steel mesh for excellent drainage and wooden handles that prevent heat transfer—bringing restaurant-level quality and functionality to your kitchen.
Each of the four variations is designed to suit different cooking needs. The fineness of a tebo’s mesh is classified by numbers, with mesh #8 being the standard and ideal for ramen. Lower mesh numbers are coarser and higher numbers are finer.
Round Base:
The rounded base allows for smooth draining, even with large portions of noodles, making it easy to handle. Mesh #8 (2.6 mm-wide openings), ideal for ramen and other noodles in the size range of 1.15-1.87 mm in diameter. Holds 200 g (7.1 oz) of noodles.
High Rim:
The raised rim keeps noodles from spilling during boiling, while the deep basket provides ample capacity—good for larger servings. Mesh #8 (2.7 mm-wide openings), ideal for ramen and other noodles in the size range of 1.15-1.87 mm in diameter. Holds 250 g (8.8 oz) of noodles.
Ultra-Fine Mesh:
The fine mesh prevents thin noodles from clogging or slipping through while maintaining a delicate texture. The deep basket allows the noodles to circulate evenly in the water for uniform cooking. Mesh #16 (1.2 mm-wide openings), ideal for very thin noodles in the size range of 1.0-1.1 mm in diameter. Holds 250 g (8.8 oz) of noodles.
Flat Base:
Features a coarse mesh suitable for thick noodles and tsukemen (cold noodles served with dipping sauce). It provides excellent drainage, ensuring the noodles stay firm and never watery. The wide, flat bottom improves water circulation and holds generous portions with ease. Mesh #6.5 (3.3 mm-wide openings), ideal for tsukemen, udon, and other noodles in the size range of 2.2-3.0 mm in diameter. Holds 400 g (14.1 oz) of noodles.
Each tebo has a natural wood handle with a metal core fully wrapped in wood, preventing heat from reaching your hands even during extended use. The smooth wood provides a comfortable grip, supporting effortless everyday cooking. These ramen strainers hook onto the rim of a pot so they can be left to rest while the noodles cook. Bend the wire at the bottom of the handle to adjust it to your cooking pot.
With their clean, professional design, these tebo strainers blend seamlessly into any kitchen—perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic ramen-making at home or in their own restaurant.
