Seiju Kiln is a Kutani ware kiln newly founded in May of 2023. Its name was bestowed with hopes of bringing happiness and auspiciousness through its tableware items adorned with traditional Kutani ware designs.
A standout pattern from Seiju Kiln is hanazume, a signature floral design of Kutani ware. Craftspeople meticulously hand-draw the initial designs and then employ advanced transfer techniques to imprint a stunning floral pattern onto the surface of tableware items. After the base colors are set and fired, delicate gold outlines are applied. Pieces undergo a second firing at a reduced temperature to enhance the gold lines' radiant shimmer.
Crafts
Kutani ware is a pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years. Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.

Hanazume
Hanazume is a classic Kutani ware technique in which flowers are intricately drawn across an entire surface. After the first firing, detailed floral designs are outlined with gold paint before the final firing. This decorative method, introduced by Shiro Mizuta in Kanazawa City during the Taisho period (1912 CE–1926 CE), beautifully combines vibrant flowers with elegant gold to create stunning pieces.
