This is a chrysanthemum-shaped medium bowl by Zuiho Kiln of Arita porcelain. The metallic-colored rim enhances the texture of the simple white porcelain, giving it a more sophisticated look.
Chrysanthemum is a shape often used in Japanese tableware. Chrysanthemums have meanings such as "love" and "true strength" and are known as an auspicious motif.
This bowl comes in two colors, gold and silver. The gold has a warmer feel and the silver a cooler impression. This plate is suitable for everyday use as well as for festive table settings.
The slightly deep design is designed to match a dish called mukouzuke, which originally referred to sashimi or vinegared fish, but today mukozuke refers to a tasteful dish that goes well with sake.
It can be used not only for sashimi and vinegared dishes, but also for simmered dishes, salads, fruits, desserts, and many other uses.

Chrysanthemum
For generations, Japan has held a reverence for chrysanthemums. The chrysanthemum, known as "Kiku" in Japanese, holds profound cultural and aesthetic significance, symbolizing longevity and for warding off evil spirits.
Their blooms frequently adorn Japanese tableware adding an air of elegance and historical depth. Many pieces showcase meticulously painted chrysanthemum motifs, while others are crafted to mirror the delicate form of a fully-bloomed chrysanthemum.
