Savoring Japanese Tea with Wagashi
Japanese tea offers a calming and soothing experience, bringing tranquility within. Among these teas, sencha, a type of whole-leaf green tea, is particularly easy to enjoy at home and is perfect for sharing with the whole family. The taste of sencha is refreshing and crisp, with a gentle bitterness and a subtle sweetness that lingers pleasantly.
Sencha’s aroma carries a natural, grassy fragrance, making it an ideal pairing with various sweet wagashi. Together, they create a layered and harmonious experience, elevating each sip and bite to new heights.
The Swirl Pattern Round Plate is made from Arita ware. The celadon’s graceful gradient from white to soft blue elevates the presentation of the dish, adding a cool, refreshing ambiance. It beautifully highlights the delicate colors and shapes of wagashi, enhancing each detail with a layer of gentle elegance that invites both visual appreciation and a sense of serenity.
This small White Camellia Small Two Tiers Box, crafted by Zoho Kiln, is adorned with beautiful white camellias. Not only is it visually stunning, but it’s also highly practical.
The Warmth Conveyed by Natural Wood
We've selected a range of wooden tableware to bring a natural touch to the table, perfectly complementing Japanese tea.
The pieces crafted by Yatsuyanagi using the traditional cherry bark work from Akita Prefecture evoke the feeling of being surrounded by cherry trees in full bloom. The lustrous brown finish, adorned with delicate sakura patterns, adds a refined and elegant accent to each item.
The Plum Blossom Red Teacup Coaster adds brightness with its lacquerware sheen, bringing out the colors and textures of both the teacup and the tea for a refined Japanese tea experience.
The Flowers Gracing the Tea Set
This exquisite tea set is crafted by Touan, one of Kyoto’s largest workshops. Delicate floral patterns are meticulously hand-painted over a soft, refreshing green background, creating a harmonious blend of colors that immerses the user in a relaxing ambiance.
This type of teapot, known as yokode kyusu or side-handle teapot, features a spout and handle set at almost a perpendicular angle. This design allows for a refined pouring motion, with one hand gracefully holding the lid while pouring tea.
The floral pattern at the bottom of the cup appears to bloom within the tea, creating a visual delight that enhances the experience of savoring each sip.
