A meeting of heritage and modern life, this cup and saucer bring the spirit of Arita porcelain to the contemporary table. Crafted by Gen-emon Kiln as a MUSUBI KILN original, this set reflects a shared commitment to enduring craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
Selected from the kiln’s archive of classical motifs, this MUSUBI original features the intertwined musubi (knot) and karakusa (arabesque) patterns rendered in rich akae red. Akae refers to the rich red overglaze enamel, giving the surface depth and presence. Gold is also applied by hand along the contours of the design, framing the red forms and creating contrast against the white porcelain. Flowing vines symbolize prosperity, while the knot represents an enduring human connection.
Gen-emon Kiln pieces are widely regarded for their sturdiness, becoming part of everyday life for years to come. Over time, their reassuring solidity allows them to remain a dependable presence at the table. The reverse of the saucer bears the emblems of Gen-emon Kiln and MUSUBI KILN, marking this collaboration.
Presented in a wooden box, this set makes a meaningful gift and a special piece to treasure. Elegant in presence yet suited to regular enjoyment, this cup and saucer lends a sense of occasion to daily tea or coffee.
