Description

This is a pair of Bizen ware beer cups with patterns called "hidasuki" and “goma.” The coarse texture, exquisite colors, and patterns produced by the kiln's flames are a remarkable example of Bizen ware, "the art of clay and fire."

The "hidasuki" pattern is created when the work is wrapped in straw, placed in a kiln with a cover called a "saya," and fired in a location away from direct heat. It becomes light brown in color throughout, with scarlet areas where the straw is wrapped. This contrast between vivid colors makes it very popular. Additionally, during the process, the ash sometimes creates a pattern resembling "goma (sesame)" on the surface. Each firing results in a different pattern, making each piece a unique work of art.

These beer cups feel lighter than they look. Pouring cold beer into them makes the beverage pleasantly cool. At the same time, the soft, earthy texture of the stoneware gives them a warm impression.

The Bizen ware beer cups also make the bubbles fine, creamy, and soft on the palate. They are recommended for those who want to distinctly experience the rich aroma.
