Looking from the side, you can see a calico cat with a big smile hanging from the edge of the rice bowl. The rim of the rice bowl is slightly thicker and is decorated with tiny red and yellow dots on the outside and inside. The transparent glaze over the ivory-colored Hasami ware gives the rice bowl a bright and beautiful shine. 

When eating from the rice bowl, turn the cat so that it is facing you for a better hold. Fill the bowl with rice up to about the line made by the carefully shaped rim of the bowl for an appetizing presentation.

    Hasami ware is a type of pottery produced in the vicinity of Hasami-cho, located in the north central part of Nagasaki Prefecture, with a history of over 400 years. One of the characteristics of Hasami ware is that there is no fixed technique, so it is possible to make pottery that fits the times. For this reason, Hasami ware comes in a variety of shapes, both large and small, and has a rich variety of designs. Because of the variety of expressions, Hasami ware is loved by people of all ages and genders.
