This Kutani porcelain vase is decorated with two plum trees in bloom—red and white blossoms set against a golden running river. The design is based on Ogata Korin’s celebrated work Red and White Plum Blossoms, designated a Japanese National Treasure and admired as the pinnacle of his bold composition and decorative artistry.
The vase measures 7.5 cm (3 in) in diameter, 15.5 cm (6.1 in) in width, and 12 cm (4.7 in) in height.
