Introducing our Edo Kiriko glassware rocks glass, a bold embodiment of craftsmanship and tradition in a striking black hue. This glass features an intricate design of star and sword, which requires meticulous skill and unwavering concentration required by the Edo Kiriko technique.
The pattern intricately combines the starburst with the sword blade motif, creating a captivating visual narrative of elegance and strength. It radiates a delicate light, showcasing the distinctive beauty and popularity of Edo Kiriko designs. The precision of each cut line offers a gleam that invites admiration, allowing you to appreciate the luminous effects crafted by skilled hands.
The deep black color of the glass lends it a bold, definite presence, enhancing the motifs' visual impact and bringing a sense of majestic power to the table. Black is often considered the most challenging hue to carve in Edo Kiriko. The intricacy arises from the method of cutting kiriko glass, which involves inspecting the interior while referencing the pattern etched on the glass's exterior. Unfortunately, this pattern remains invisible when the glass is black. Achieving this delicate balance demands years of expertise, a refined sensibility, and impeccable technique.
Holding up to 150 ml or 5.3 oz of your favorite drink, it’s the right size for whatever is on the menu, and the bold star on the bottom instantly elevates the visual of the cocktail, mocktail, or any other liquid inside. It arrives tucked with a beautiful box made of paulownia wood, light and made to protect the cup when not in use. It also makes a beautiful gift.
This glass is made with a craft technique called Edo Kiriko, which involves the precise cutting of crystal against a cutting wheel, to create geometric shapes and lines that catch the light from every angle.
Each Edo Kiriko glass is made by the hands of artisan Kiyohide in his workshop called Kirameki, which means “The Refined Light.” Kiyohide has honed his craft over decades of dedication, earning him the title of Edo Kiriko Craftsperson, an honor reserved only for those who have proved their craftsmanship of the technique.
