This Ginomi sake cup has a rustic and warm atmosphere with a floral motif painted on the white glaze.
The rough texture of the clay makes it sturdy and comfortable to hold. The subtle texture created by "Yakishime", which changes its appearance depending on the firing process, is impressive and gives different impressions depending on the angle of view.
The shape is handcrafted by potter's wheel so you can feel the natural charm of the stoneware.
It is ideal for enjoying sake in a relaxed atmosphere with family and friends.
Kousai Kiln is owned by Hirohiko Umeno, a potter engaged in stoneware making in Hasami-cho, Nagasaki Prefecture. He trained at a Kiyomizu Ware kiln in Kyoto City and opened his own kiln in Mt. Nakao in 1991. He produces unique stoneware based on handmade and hand-painted techniques.
His works are stoneware using the "Yakishime" technique, firing unglazed pottery fired at a high temperature, in combination with Kiyomizu Ware's painting. The unique motifs of the paintings, such as depictions of plants like flowers and grapes, and animals like cats and rabbits, make it fun to choose from a wide variety of pieces.
