Camellia Blooms Mug

This stoneware mug from Musashi Kiln features charming decorations of red and white camellias with green leaves.

Its rounded shape offers ample capacity and a comfortable thickness. The surface features a harmonious blend of an earthy texture and natural hues. Fresh and vibrant, the leaves, enhanced by a translucent glaze, beautifully complement the red and white camellia flowers. Together, the colors create an elegant display against the white base.

Inspired by the natural world, Tsujii Musashi imbues his creations with a subtle, rustic beauty. The understated elegance of this piece is enhanced by random spots of gohonde, pinkish spots emerging after the firing of the pottery. 

Musashi Kiln

In 2006, Tsujii Musashi established Musashi Kiln in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, specializing in the creation of Mino ware. While crafting his unique pottery, he also engages in agricultural activities, drawing inspiration for his designs from nature. Elements such as wheat and aquatic plants are incorporated into his patterns. The tableware he creates offers a natural and comfortable sensation, both in its appearance and its texture.

Crafted in the Tono region of Gifu Prefecture, Mino ware is celebrated for its rich heritage and versatility within Japanese dinnerware.

A defining feature of Mino ware is its remarkable variety. Unlike many other Japanese pottery that adheres to a singular style, Mino ware boasts more than fifteen different styles, each with its unique charm developed over centuries. This region now accounts for over fifty percent of Japan's ceramic production, highlighting its unrivaled popularity.

In recognition of its cultural significance, Mino ware was designated as a traditional craft in 1978 by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). Mino ware continues to enchant with its blend of historical depth and contemporary relevance, truly embodying a high standard of craftsmanship.
